I had a very productive weekend. I've been working on framing and reframing family pictures for a while. It's been a lot of fun rediscoving photos of my kids, grandkids and extended family that I've either not had framed or needed to be reframed. I also discovered photo's I forgot I had. I'm making headway but that's another post. One of the highlights of my weekend was a letter from our sponsor child, Mulualem "Muri".
This was the first letter we received from her and it was such a blessing to us. It was actually written on June 22. As you can imagine, it's quite a process to have the care givers and teachers at Trees of Glory (93 letters) and Kind Hearts (95 letters) individually help the children write the letters. Then it has to be translated and mailed to Children's Hope Chest, who then forward it on to the sponsors. We just want those involved to know how much it's appreciated.
Muri wanted us to know that she is in good health and she finished her kindergarten year. She had "good results and has been promoted to first grade". She also learned of "God's love this year and that God loves children very much". Praise God. When they asked her if she had a question for us, she said "it would make her happy if we could come to meet her some day". We are definitely working on that for next year sweet girl. Below is a drawing that she sent with the letter. A flower garden from Ethiopia. Some of the most precious flowers I've ever received.
By September, 90 new children will be enrolling at the care-points (40 at Trees of Glory and 50 at Kind Hearts). Each of those children will need a sponsor family to provide for their attendance at the care-point where they receive nutritious food, clean water, clothing, medical care, education and Christian discipleship.
Your sponsorship of $34 per month provides for the needs of one child, and your letters and prayers demonstrate your love and concern. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, please email Karen at kjwistrom@yahoo.com and she will add you to my waiting list and contact you as
soon as the children enroll in September.
