We are almost there!

In a previous post I told you about Dege, the little boy we are sponsoring at Trees of Glory. I'm happy to report that all 84 children have been sponsored for the Day Center. They hope to be able to hire teachers right away so that they can begin teaching in September. The total cost for a teacher and an assistant is $250.00 a month. Already $200.00 per month has been sponsored with just $50.00 to go. If you are interested in contributing all or part of the $50.00, please contact:

Happy Birthday Makenzie. Your 3.

.

We spent the weekend in Illinois celebrating Makenzie's 3rd birthday. We had such a great time.

Makenzie at 3 loves:

her Mommy, Daddy and little brother.
Dora the Explorer.
to give great hugs and kisses.
Tea Parties
watching Tinker Bell and the fairies (lighting bugs/fireflies) in the back yard.
a good night book
2 good night songs
gymnastics
cupcakes (she really loves these)
smoothies
her friends and cousins
her new playground her Daddy built her
Disney Princesses
baby dolls

We're so happy you're our granddaughter. You make us laugh at all of the cute things you say. You're so sweet to your baby brother and are so excited about everything you do. I can't believe you're already three and about to begin preschool in less that a month. We love you Makenzie Belle.

Korah

I recently came across a few postings of a place in Ethiopia named Korah (which means 'cursed child'). It is unthinkable that the children live in and around this dump. Our hope is to make our way there to help when we go to Ethiopia to see our sponsor child, Dege, at Trees of Glory. I hope you will take the time to look at the link (Talk is Sheep) and the video below and possibly consider sponsoring one of these beautiful children.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" Isaiah 6:8

Thank you for your interest in sponsoring a child from Korah! These kids, many of whom are orphans, currently spend most of their days and nights in the local trash dump trying to find food to survive. By sponsoring them to go to boarding school, their life circumstances are completely changed, and they are able to focus on having a better future. At the school, they will also learn about Christ, who is our Only Hope for the future!

Once we have a firm commitment that someone is willing to sponsor a child at $700 per year (payment information attached), we will assign a child to them. By sponsoring them, you pay for their tuition to go to boarding school, 3 meals a day, dorm room, books, uniforms, bedding, hygiene items, school supplies, and fees. We would like for our sponsors to commit to the child until they are finished with school. This can be done individually, as a group, or as raised support. Once you are assigned a child, we encourage you to exchange letters and pictures with him or her to establish a supportive relationship.

There are also young adults that would like to attend technical school to learn a trade. These sponsorships are $600, paid one time. We also encourage these sponsors to exchange letters and pictures with them to encourage them along the way. Learning a trade can totally change these young adults' lives, as they can look for a job to support themselves and their families.

Project 61, the ministry established to meet the needs of orphans in the community of Korah, would also welcome any general donations.

Checks may be made out to Project 61 and mailed to:

Nanny. What Were You Thinking?

My mom, "Nanny" took her grandkids, two boys (age 14) and two girls (age 13)to the beach by herself. Here after referred to as "the cousins". The four are fortunate to be born in the same year so they have been close. That being said, they are generally very well behaved so it can't be too bad. Right? Mom, have a great time loving on the kids. Cousins, be good. PLEASE!!! I hope to be able to post pictures of their great time.

(Full disclosure): 1) My two sisters, Kim and Michelle are in the picture with my mom. 2) Poppy will make a daily appearance at the beach to "help out", but for the most part it's Mom and the kids.
